Motorola X40 is official, features a Snapdragon 8

The Motorola X40 has been officially launched, and it packs some impressive specs at an even more impressive price point. The new phone comes with Qualcomm's latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, and we know from our iQOO 11 reviews that it's a serious performer. In addition, there is either 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB of storage. The converted Chinese prices are between 490 and 615 US dollars - a real bargain for such extensive equipment.

Add to that the fact that the Moto X40 sports a blazing-fast 6.7-inch 165Hz OLED display and you have a really compelling option for mobile gamers on a budget. The screen may only be Full HD+, but that means higher frame rates in games and is still more than sharp enough for most users. The X40 packs a 4,600mAh battery and supports 125W charging - enough for a 50% charge in just 7 minutes.

The phone also supports wireless charging, which is a real rarity in this price range. With only 15 W, however, this takes much longer. As for the cameras, there is a 50 MP primary camera, a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 12 MP 2x telephoto/portrait camera.

Compared to phones like the Edge 30 Ultra, these aren't the greatest specs, but they're still a step above most of the competition. The Motorola X40 will be available in China from December 22, 2022, with a global launch expected in the first half of 2023.
